Court suspends charges against businessman and his associate

Yesterday, May 28th 2012, the Permanent Criminal Court of Nicosia has exempted from all charges Mr. Lambros Christofi and Mr. George Constantinou and dropped the case against them. According to the Court, “on instructions of the Attorney General, all charges against the defendants are suspended due to the fact that further evidence emerged.”

It is evident that Mr. Christofi and Mr. Constantinou have been hastily and unjustifiably detained and charged by the Cyprus police and after studying the evidence, the Attorney General’s office had to back-pedal in order to save the day. It is not the first time that the Cyprus police has acted in such manner, exposing the Republic to potential lawsuits for erroneous investigations from victimized citizens.

More to follow on the story.
