Prosecution against prominent businessman Lambros Christofi suspended On Monday, the criminal prosecution against prominent businessman Lambros Christofi was suspended by the Attorney General. Christofi had been facing fraud charges related to a land sale case in Romania. The suspension of the prosecution was announced before the Criminal Court, which was in session in Nicosia for the hearing of the case. Before the start of the proceedings, the Prosecution informed the Court that new evidence had emerged, which requires further study and evaluation. According to the statements of the Prosecution, the emergence of this new evidence may lead either to the re-filing of the case or to the permanent discontinuation of the prosecution against the accused. The case against both Christofi and the company “Advantage Capital Holding” was, apparently, very superficial and lacked any substantial or credible evidence. Upon exiting the courtroom, Lambros Christofi expressed his deep disappointment and anger over the unjust ordeal, which caused significant damage to his group of companies. He emphasized that he will immediately instruct his legal advisors to file a lawsuit for damages against those responsible for this unfair and deliberate persecution.
