Plus, the debate completion regarding the budget release of 100 million Euros remains, in order to proceed with the agreement on the purchase of two Israeli ships offshore. Bear in mind that the Republic of Cyprus has agreed with Israel in everything concerning this purchase, and the release of funds by the Defense Committee is remaining. This effort was continued even after the completion of the parliamentary session in 2013 with DISY, which change its attitude at the last minute, regarding the promotion of the agreement over such a large amount.
They are signing for the helicopters
Regarding now the helicopters issue, with the consent of all parties, the chairman of the parliamentary defense committee has signed today the release budget of 28 million, for the repair of the Russian helicopters. According to George Barnabas, who is the chairman of the parliamentary defense committee, having the consent of the other parties, he will sign, in order for the House to release the funds needed for repairing the 11 Russian attack helicopters that are available to the National Guard.
Bear in mind that during the last weeks, the scenes controversy that was erupted in parliament between the parties regarding the armament programs of the National Guard, got out of control when the majority of parliamentary parties accused DISY for the worst kind of populism. This is because, DISY changed its attitude regarding the release of the of €128,5 million by the Defense Committee of the House, which will be used firstly, for the purchase of two ships offshore at a cost of € 100 million and secondly, to repair the 11 Russian helicopters Mi 35, with the Russians claiming the amount of € 28,5 million.
