The Hadassah Organisation in Cyprus

Key members of the Hadassah Organisation, the leading hospital organization of Israel, were hosted by the Hadassah Cyprus team for the official presentation of the development plan for the Hadassah Hospital Cyprus which took place on Wednesday the 13th  of April in Nicosia and Limassol.

The Hadassah delegation comprised Mrs. Dalia Itzik, Chairwoman of the Hadassah Organisation, former Speaker of the Knesset (Parliament); Professor Yoram Weiss, CEO of the Hadassah Organisation, Mr. Yigal Molad Chairman of the Hadassah Medical and others. The attendees included Mr. Averof Neofytou, President of the ruling Democratic Rally party and Member of the House of Representatives, his Excellency Mr. Oren Anolik, Ambassador of Israel in Cyprus,  Mrs. Savia Orfanidou, Deputy Chairwoman of the Parliamentary Health Committee, Mrs. Fotoula Hatzippa, Mayor of Lakatamia and other notable members of the political, medical and business world.

In her statement, Mrs. Itzik referred to the cooperation between Cyprus and Israel, and to the importance for the health sector of the development of such a large-scale project in Cyprus, in collaboration with Hadassah Israel.

Dr. Weiss stated that, “We believe it will be a productive collaboration. We can bring technology and research to Cyprus, but I think we can learn things from Cyprus as well. It is a two-way collaboration. Through cooperation we will improve both healthcare systems and that’s the way it should be”

Mr. Molad stressed that “Hadassah can be one stone in a puzzle that can add a lot. We can share our experience, our expertise in research, education and of course medical care.”

In turn, Mr. Neophytou in his statement offered his congratulations to both the Israeli and the Cyprus businesses for finding ways to further the cooperation between the two nations and stressed the importance of strengthening relations with our neighbouring country.

For his part, businessman Lambros Christofi stated that ” Our goal is to improve the healthcare sector in Cyprus and to attract medical tourism, one of the main strategic pillars of the Vice-Ministry of Tourism. Now with Hadassah, a well-respected organization in the Arab world, in Eastern Europe and in Cyprus, we have the opportunity to do so.”

The Ambassador of Israel to Cyprus, Mr.  Oren Anolik, expressed his satisfaction that an Organization like Hadassah begins operations in Cyprus, offered his best wishes for this endeavour and assured that the strengthening relations between the two countries will continue in every way and at all levels.

Hadassah Cyprus has already initiated operations with an in-action Health Support Line actively supporting patients with consultations and treatments for severe health incidents in direct collaboration with the Israeli team. Additionally, Hadassah Medical Center in Limassol is already under construction expected to be operational by the end of 2022 while the Hadassah Health Park in Nicosia is projected to be completed in 2025 on a privately owned land in Lakatamia.

Through these events, the Hadassah Cyprus team in collaboration with Elhadi Group, who will contribute to the development of the hospital buildings, presented Hadassah Cyprus, a project which is expected to change the healthcare providers’ landscape in Cyprus. A project of immense importance which will contribute to the development of the economy, the healthcare sector and employment with over 1500 new job positions.
