The characteristic features of the classics in the interior

  • Space and freedom. The classical style is characterized by large rooms, high ceilings, massive windows and doorways, fireplaces made of natural stone and carved stairs. The spacious room allows you to realize all the design elements fully and not cause discomfort among residents or guests.
  • Symmetry and regular shapes. Elements of the composition are arranged symmetrically and most often in pairs. The design is dominated by regular geometric shapes: rectangle, square and round.
  • Refined finish. Classic prefers natural materials – rare varieties of wood, natural stone, precious metals, expensive textiles. Such interiors cannot be imagined without small architectural forms and stucco elements – columns, arches, mouldings, pilasters etc. In rare cases, instead of such materials, you can use high-quality imitations made of plastic.
  • Natural colours. The classic interior involves the use of natural tones and wood shades, beige, milky, olive, ocher, grey, sand, white and many others created on their basis.
  • The presence of a composition center. It can be a fireplace in the living room, around which furniture is placed, or a coffee table with a sofa and a pair of armchairs. In the bedroom, this role is played by a bed or dressing table. There can be several compositional centres in a classic interior.
  • The abundance of light sources. Classic was formed during the absence of electric lighting. Therefore, this style is characterized by large windows, a massive chandelier, complemented by table and wall lights.
  • Luxury decor. The use of classical style in interior design has always been an indicator of the solidity of the owner. Expensive fabrics, antique sculptures and vases, paintings in gilded frames, lamps with wrought iron elements, china, mirrors and similar luxurious accessories have become an integral part of the interior.

Also, the Classic has acquired several branches. So, the classic English style in the interior is characterized by restraint and some asceticism. At the same time, the French counterpart is more artsy and pompous, almost turning into the chic and brilliance of Rococo.
