According to the announcement, the data were collected through personal interviews and the coverage was the entire Cyprus area. The reference period of the survey was the first trimester of 2013. The survey covered 1,664 households and 3,633 individuals aged 16-74 years old.

According to the results, the percentage of households with a computer reached 70.3% in 2013. A reduction in the percentage of households with a computer desk was noted, reaching 27.3% in 2013 compared with 28.8 % in 2012, while the percentage of households with a laptop remained at the same levels, with 62.0 % in 2013 compared with 62.4 % in 2012. It is noteworthy that 18.7% of households have a tablet.

The 91.1% of households with dependent children have a computer, while in households where there are no dependent children the percentage is only 60.7%.

In 2013 there was a continued growth of Internet access in households where it reached 64.7% compared to 61.8% in 2012. Simultaneously, an increase was observed in the percentage of individuals who use the Internet, from 60.7% in 2012 to 65.5 % in 2013.

Broadband connection is now the main way to access the Internet after being used by almost all households, specifically 99.5 % of households. 10.5 % of households have access to the internet via a mobile connection, ie mobile phone, card or USB.

More frequent Internet users are people aged 16-24 at a percentage of 94.7 % and pupils / students at a rate of 99.0 %. This percentage decreases significantly with the increase of age, as only 14.7 % of people aged 65-74 use the internet. Men use the Internet more frequently than women, with a percentage of 63.3 % and 60.3 % respectively.

The most popular activities on the internet are searching for information about goods or services, and sending and receiving electronic messages, with 85.7% and 74.7% respectively.

67.7% of people who use the internet participate in social networks like facebook and twitter.

Internet purchases were made by the 19.8% of people aged 16-74 during the first trimester of 2013. First on their preference is clothing or sportswear with a percentage of 53.4%, followed by holidays with 49,8%.

Almost all the people who use the internet have used the search engine to find information in a percentage of 95.2%, while 72.3 % have sent emails with attached files, such as text and images, and 59.8 % have used the internet to make phone calls.
