Tax-storm for 2014: What are we going to pay and what will they ‘cut’ from our money?

The temporary tax on gross earnings in the public and private sector is extended until 2016. The detailed scales are as follows:

1. From € 0 – € 1500 the levy is zero.

2. From € 1501 – € 2500 the levy is 2.5 %.

3. From € 2501 – € 3500 the levy is 3 %.

4. From € 3501 and over, the levy is 3.5 %.

We should not forget that in the public sector, there will be horizontal reduction of 3% in the salaries and pensions at all scales from the new year.

From the first day of the new year, VAT rises from 18% to 19%, while the tax on fuel will be increased by 5 cent a liter.

Changes will happen to road taxes as well, since the calculation will be based on pollutants. More specifically:

1.From 0 – 120g carbon dioxide the cost will be 0.05 cents to the maximum charge of €60.

2. From 121 – 150g of carbon dioxide the cost will be €3 to the maximum charge of €150.

3. 150g of carbon dioxide and more, the cost will be €8 and there is no maximum charge.

Last but not least, we must not forget that the corporate tax rate will be 12.5%, the tax on the interest income will be 30% and the bank fee 0.15%.
